Spring/Summer Projects

Posted by on Aug 5, 2017 in Stop Slavery Update | No Comments

Thanks so much for everyone that was involved in the Stop Slavery ride this year.  This year we raised money for the following projects.

1. “Baan Duang Dao (or Molding Stars) is an after school program for at-risk kids in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The factors which place these children ‘at-risk’ include poverty, statelessness, and broken families. Each situation is different, but we strive to strengthen both individuals and families. The goal of the program is to provide education, activities, and relationships that will help guide these children into healthy adult living- free from trafficking and abuse. HUG staff members meet with the group (approximately 20 children) twice a week to study English, art, science, sports, Bible, and team-building. One Saturday per month, the kids are treated to a field trip experience or just hanging out together at the Children’s Advocacy Center. Funding needs include an additional language translator, sports equipment, and field trip expenses such as museum admission. A small investment goes a long way toward educating and encouraging these kids!”

2. 1/2 College Degree $2500 This is half the cost of tuition and living expenses for a college degree for one girl that has been rescued from a trafficking situation. This need is immediate and we would love to be able to fund half of a girl’s degree and help her get started on the right track and perhaps fund the other half of the degree next year. This will allow her to get the skills to get a higher paying job than she would otherwise be able to get.

3. Social Worker to Assist with girls involved in prosecutions $3600 This will provide the social worker costs for one year for the social workers involved in working with girls that are involved in court cases.

4. Investigative Equipment $1100 Investigative Equipment including GPS trackers, hidden cameras and recording devices, investigation expenses and stationary recording devices.

CEO Shortcut a Project of Stop Slavery

Posted by on Jul 25, 2017 in Stop Slavery Update | No Comments

We are launching a new project of Stop Slavery this year called CEO Shortcut.  We want to help Christ-Centered Entrepreneurs launch their own business to make a Kingdom difference wherever it is that the Lord is calling them.  We are looking for some sponsors to help us get off the ground this first year to hire an assistant and for scholarships for students that need a little push.  If you’d like to help please reach out and I’ll let you know personally what the needs are.  Also, if you know of anyone that should join our program please pass it on.  It is going to be life changing for those that are able to attend.

Stop Slavery Ride 2017

Thanks so much to Calvary Chapel everyone who was a part of the Stop Slavery Ride and thanks heaps, Andre Trinidad, for documenting everything for us.  If you would like to organize your own Stop Slavery Ride as a fundraiser/awareness building event let us know.  The best numbers say there are 48.5 million slaves in the world today.  I think 48.5 would be great for a Saturday morning ride event.

Stop Slavery Ride in Okinawa

2017 Stop Slavery Bike Ride in Okinawa

Last year we raised just over $10,000 from the Stop Slavery Ride in Okinawa. It was the largest fundraiser for projects that we have ever had. This year we are hoping to reach that goal again. If we do, below are the projects that we will be supporting in 2017.

4. Investigative Equipment $2700 Investigative Equipment including GPS trackers, hidden cameras and recording devices, investigation expenses and stationary recording devices.

School at Unit 14 Fully Funded

Posted by on Dec 28, 2011 in Stop Slavery Update | No Comments

stopSlavery project complete

The very first project that we wanted to initiate as Stop Slavery was the school and community center at Unit 14.  The orphanage ended up getting funded first since it required less start up funds and just on going funds to run it.  Just before Christmas we received the last $3000 for this $19,000 project from a small group from The Harbor, which is a Cadence ministry in Okinawa, Japan.

Hopefully the school will get started soon.  We are already moving on towards other projects.  Two of our big projects for 2012 are opening the Museum of Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery in Siem Reap, Cambodia and getting a real office so we don’t have to to work from home, couches, cafes etc.  Waahoo!

You can see the original post for the school here http://stopslavery.org/unit14

Thank you to all who have helped with special one time gifts and those who help sustain our ministries monthly as well.

Hope Hemp?

The very first day that I thought about Stop Slavery (my original name for the project was Dream27 thankfully my student leaders came up with Stop Slavery) I thought about funding it with a business.  I even registered a domain for the business that I still own.  Shortly after that as the idea began to grow and more people got involved I thought we should just go with the traditional non profit route of praying, telling others about our needs and fundraising.

Since we have been back in the states a number of influential people in my life have asked about using a business to fund Stop Slavery.  As I began to think and pray about it I was convinced that I would like to go down that route but also just as strongly convinced that there was no way I had the time to start a business in addition to running Stop Slavery and the Discipleship Training School we are starting in July 2011.

One of my former students, who had done an internship for me in the past, called up and said that he was interested in starting a company with the profits going to Stop Slavery.  It was neat how God had moved my heart back in that direction at the same time that he was preparing someone else to take that over.

At this point I am not sure where it will go or what it will look like.  Another neat aspect of the project is that when we were talking about opening an orphanage in Siem Reap many single mothers wanted us to take their children since they couldn’t properly provide for them.  We were not willing to take the children but I told them that we would try within the next year to figure out a way to help them provide for their families.

The business idea is to create hemp products in Cambodia, hence the name Hope Hemp, (though that is just an idea at this point as well)  made by single mothers who have already demonstrated a willingness to part with their kids and whose kids are at risk to be sold into slavery, and sell those products here in U.S. on different college campuses, youth ministries, botique shops etc.

If you have any thoughts on the matter please feel free to pass them on.  We’ll have more information in February.

Dear Pastor Buddy,

Hello ! How are you? Thanks for your email. Sorry for didn’t connect to you a week ago because I have a big problem and I rested in hospital.
Somebody hit me with stick, bamboo stick I heard. They hit me behind of neck and head so I don’t know myself and I know myself at hospital. While I know myself I vomitted out very much. They hit and then steal my computer and my wallet in my pocket.so now I don’t have everything with me. All my photos and everything that I keep in computer lost.

Thanks Pastor, Today that I send mail to you I start better but it still headach and my neck still hurt and difficult to turn around. Please pray for my head because it is not good now.

I pray for you and your trip to every where that you go. I thanks God again and again that I still alive and meet all orphans again.

Bye see you next email,

God bless you and your family,

Ravy

Donate to Help End Slavery

Some people have asked about donating monthly to Stop Slavery in amounts other than the $27 a month that we had originally put up on our Donate Page. Now you can donate in different denominations ranging from $10 to $250 a month. If you would like to donate a different amount please let us know and we will work with you to get that exact amount.

At this point PayPal is still the most cost effective means for us to accept donations because of our volume of giving so until we go with a different processor we will have operate that way.

You can also donate to help with Stop Slavery projects using this form below.
